Job description

The Warehouse Associate at Maersk Contract Logistics will play a key role in ensuring the efficient handling of goods and inventory within the warehouse.

The role involves receiving, storing, picking, packing, and dispatching goods while maintaining high standards of accuracy, safety, and efficiency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES : Receiving and Storing : Receive and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy and qualityUnload goods, ensure proper storage according to procedures, and enter items into the warehouse management system (WMS)Label and store items in appropriate warehouse locationsOrder Picking and Packing : Accurately pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment based on client and operational requirementsEnsure that products are packaged securely to prevent damage during transitInventory Management : Participate in regular stock counts and cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracyAssist with investigating and resolving inventory discrepanciesMaintain records of stock levels and report any shortages or excesses to supervisorsLoading and Dispatching : Assist with loading outgoing shipments onto trucks and other transport vehiclesEnsure orders are correctly processed and prepared for dispatch in a timely mannerHealth & Safety Compliance : Follow all company safety guidelines and operating procedures to maintain a safe working environmentReport any hazards, safety incidents, or equipment malfunctions to supervisorsEnsure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and handling of machineryGeneral Warehouse Duties : Always maintain cleanliness and organization of the warehouseOperate warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks safely and efficientlyCollaborate with other warehouse team members and departments to meet performance and quality targetsWHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR : Minimum Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalentMinimum of 1-2 years of warehouse or logistics experience preferredFamiliarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and basic inventory proceduresAttention to detail and accuracy in handling goodsStrong organizational and time management skillsAbility to work well under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentPhysical stamina and ability to lift heavy items, as the role requires standing, lifting, and manual labourForklift operation certification is an advantageMaersk is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace, and we embrace different styles of thinking.
