Job description

PURPOSE OF ROLE : The Warehouse Assistant plays a pivotal role in the overall efficiency and effectiveness of warehouse operations.

The primary purpose of this role is to ensure the seamless flow of goods within the warehouse, from their arrival to their dispatch, while maintaining accuracy, organization, and safety.

Role Requirements:

  1. Receiving: Identify shipment origin (Branch, customer, or supplier), stock order type (Customer Return, Inter-Company Transfer, Local, International), and destination (e.g., Richmond Park or another branch).
  2. Place receipted stock in designated storage locations (Lighting, Energy, Utilities, Residential, Platform, SUS, etc.).
  3. Report damaged, short, or over-supplied stock to supervisor and Procurement, and record discrepancies appropriately.
  4. Follow up on discrepancies within 5 days to ensure stock accuracy.

Storage: Store receipted stock properly to reduce damages, support company policies, and promote H&S practices.

Order Fulfilment: Remove damaged stock, identify shipment destinations, and plan activities to meet delivery commitments. Pack items to minimize damages and maintain presentation standards.

Dispatch: Coordinate deliveries to support company objectives, manage transportation quotes, and ensure timely, budget-compliant deliveries. Verify PODs and delivery details before and during dispatch.

Documentation: Record quantities and quality during processing, address discrepancies, and ensure proper signing and storage of documentation as per SOP.

Health & Safety: Enforce safety policies, conduct audits, arrange staff training, and ensure vehicle safety and compliance.

Computer Skills: Intermediate proficiency in Windows and MS Office.

Qualifications & Experience: Minimum Matric/NQF 4, 2+ years warehouse experience, 2+ years delivery experience, 2+ years fleet management, valid Code ECP driver's license.
