Overview
My client is looking for a hands-on, reliable, and motivated Warehouse & Operations Assistant to join their team in Cape Town.
This position is ideally suited to a younger individual who is eager to learn and grow within the logistics industry. You’ll gain valuable experience in warehousing and operations while working closely with an experienced logistics team.
Responsibilities
Operations
- Ensure the facility is opened every morning and securely closed every afternoon during business hours.
- Keep the warehouse, facility, and office spaces clean, tidy, and well-organised.
- Report any maintenance issues to management promptly.
- Manage all cargo arriving at and departing from the facility which includes the offloading or loading by means of operating a forklift.
- Accurately document cargo movements using the company’s Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Complete all required reports in line with company procedures.
- Support the Operations team with general logistics-related tasks.
Resource Utilisation
- Resource planning and allocation
- Ensure profitable utilization of equipment and staff
- Co-ordinating with warehouse for planned execution
- Co-ordinating with warehouse to ensure operational control
Communication
- Communicate professionally via email and other platforms as required.
- Maintain relationships
- Ensuring all relevant documentation is received / dispatched and in good order.
General
- Query resolution
- Maintain relationships

- Work overtime when required — as is standard in the logistics industry.

Requirements
- Matric certificate (or equivalent).
- Strong interest in logistics and a desire to build a career in the industry.
- Comfortable using a PC, with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Professional communication skills, particularly via email.
- Reliable, punctual, and responsible.
- Good attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport.
- A valid forklift license with good experience operating a forklift.
- Warehouse experience.
- Must be willing to work overtime when needed.
Remuneration
R 10 000 to R 15 000 - Depending on experience
