Purpose of the Job

This role is responsible for the overall operation of the warehouse. This position needs to ensure the efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods, optimizing space and workflow, and maintaining safety and quality standards. Key duties include managing warehouse staff, implementing policies and procedures, coordinating shipments, and supervising inventory accuracy. Additionally, the role involves planning and executing operational improvements to boost productivity and reduce costs.

Qualification Requirements

Tertiary qualification in Logistics, Warehousing, or Inventory Management

Knowledge & Experience

(At the discretion of Management)

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment is essential.

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Warehouse/Inventory Management is essential.

Computer literacy in Microsoft Office, Syspro software, and Fleet Management Software.

Good understanding of processes and process improvements.

Special Requirements

Good people management and issue identification skills required.

Key Tasks

  1. Develop and enforce warehouse policies and best practices for safety and efficiency.
  2. Coordinate receipt, storage, and dispatch of products, optimizing warehouse layout.
  3. Supervise warehouse employees including forklift operators, pickers, and packers.
  4. Monitor inventory levels and conduct regular cycle counts or audits.
  5. Implement inventory management techniques like FIFO, LIFO, and ABC analysis.
  6. Coordinate with suppliers, carriers, and other departments for smooth logistics.
  7. Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) and technology like barcode scanning.
  8. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  9. Monitor and control inventory levels using computerized systems and manual counts.
  10. Conduct regular stocktakes and reconcile inventory discrepancies.
  11. Coordinate replenishment to avoid stockouts or surplus in key areas of control.
  12. Develop and optimize inventory control procedures and tracking systems.
  13. Supervise and train warehouse staff and inventory clerks.
  14. Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and negotiate cost-effective deals.
  15. Generate inventory reports and provide updates to management.
  16. Enable continuous improvement in the warehouse.
  17. Monitor and control all procedures and processes.
