Warehouse and Distribution Manager Location: Kempton Park, Johannesburg Package: R1 CTC per annum
About the Role We are looking for an experienced Warehouse, Distribution & Site Manager to lead and optimize our Johannesburg operations. This senior-level role is ideal for a hands-on leader who excels in logistics, inventory management, health & safety, and people leadership.
Responsibilities
Warehouse Management Oversee end-to-end warehouse operations: receiving, dispatch, and exports. Maintain high levels of inventory accuracy through cycle counts, stock audits, and FIFO management. Manage returnable packaging, SCTs, and materials handling equipment.
Distribution & Logistics Manage transport operations (own fleet and 3rd party logistics providers). Drive on-time, in-full (OTIF) delivery targets of 99%. Optimize distribution costs including fuel, maintenance, and servicing. Ensure compliance with all transport regulations and employee training. Monitor and manage service providers SLA and KPI performance.
Projects & Process Optimization Lead and implement supply chain and operational improvement projects. Work closely with internal stakeholders to align operations with customer requirements. Champion efficiency, productivity, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Organizational Development Develop and implement best practices across warehouse and distribution functions. Define and drive SMART goals to improve operational performance. Redesign and improve SOPs; lead implementation across the site. Train, coach, and develop staff to support high-performance culture.
Budget & Financial Oversight Develop and manage annual operational and capex budgets. Monitor monthly performance and take corrective action on variances. Ensure cost-effective resource allocation and budget adherence.
Compliance, Safety & Site Management Ensure full compliance with EHS policies, ISO standards, and legal regulations. Oversee site safety, security, and maintenance. Lead internal and external audits and drive corrective action plans. Maintain all relevant documentation and controls.
Team Leadership Lead and manage a large, diverse team including warehouse staff, drivers, and assistants. Conduct regular performance reviews and drive accountability. Handle disciplinary processes in line with company policies. Motivate and coach staff to achieve departmental and company goals.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: Matric with Maths and Accounting; Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management or Logistics.
Technical Skills: Proficient in SAP, Syspro, ClickView, Eco Time, VIP, and Microsoft Office (Advanced Excel).
Experience: Minimum of 10 years experience in warehouse and distribution management within a multinational manufacturing environment. Strong background in logistics, inventory control, fleet management, and 3PL coordination. Proven leadership experience in HR management, performance development, and IR. Track record of managing HSE, site operations, and compliance standards.
