Job description

Function: Administration Facility Position: Ward Clerk | ICU Introduction

A vacancy has arisen for a Ward Clerk position in ICU at Life Knysna Private Hospital, reporting to the ICU Unit Manager. The successful candidate will contribute towards the optimal functioning of the nursing team through effective interdepartmental liaising, communication, and administrative support.

Critical Outputs

  • Ensuring optimal service levels while understanding and striving to achieve targets.
  • Providing quick and effective execution of non-nursing activities, including managing schedules and ordering supplies.
  • Entering patient information into relevant systems, coordinating patient admissions and discharges, and maintaining accurate patient records.
  • Attending scheduled meetings and in-service training.
  • Maintaining a safe environment by staying current with safety standards and protocols.
  • Understanding emergency plans and actions.
  • Reducing medico-legal risks through correct identification and proper filing of patient documentation.
  • Maintaining professionalism in appearance and behavior both within and outside the hospital.
  • Being a friendly and helpful contact point for patients, visitors, and staff, and facilitating communication across departments.
  • Ensuring confidentiality and discretion in all interactions.
  • Managing stock levels and billing accurately, assisting with stock takes and cycle counts.
  • Supporting document control and adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Handling ad-hoc administrative requests as needed.
  • Upholding the hospital's Quality principles.
