Job Purpose

The Walker is responsible for the safe, timely, and professional collection and delivery of laboratory samples, medical supplies, and stock items within designated areas.

The role also includes maintaining strong relationships with healthcare providers through regular check-ins and ensuring compliance with all operational, safety, and confidentiality standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Collection & Delivery

Collect laboratory specimens, stock, and other items from healthcare facilities and deliver them to designated locations on foot.

Ensure accurate recording of collections and deliveries, maintaining full chain of custody.

Handle medical samples with care in compliance with health and safety regulations.

2. Client Relations

Conduct regular check-ins with doctors, clinics, and healthcare staff to maintain service quality.

Address basic queries and escalate client concerns to the Courier Supervisor.

3. Operational Support

Report delays, incidents, or discrepancies immediately to the Controller.

Assist with stock checks and distribution when required.

Adhere to company policies, procedures, and service-level agreements.

4. Health & Safety Compliance

Follow hygiene and infection-control protocols when handling biological samples.

Ensure proper packaging, labelling, and transport of all items.

Maintain personal fitness and readiness for extended walking duties.

Reliability & Accountability: Consistently punctual, dependable, and trustworthy.

Attention to Detail: Ensures accuracy in documentation and sample handling.

Customer Service Orientation: Builds positive relationships with doctors and healthcare staff.
