Job summary

Empact Group is seeking an attentive waiter to deliver food and beverages, greet guests and provide menu information in a fast-paced environment. You will juggle seating, order taking and table maintenance while ensuring safety and guest satisfaction.

Candidates should have 1+ year of waiting experience, Matric, and strong communication. Hotel or housekeeping experience is a bonus, with flexibility to work shifts and maintain high standards of service.

Responsibilities

• Greet and escort customers to their tables
• Present menu and provide detailed information when asked (e.g., portions, ingredients, allergies)
• Prepare tables by setting up linens, silverware, and glasses
• Inform customers about the day\'s specials
• Offer menu recommendations upon request
• Upsell additional products when appropriate
• Take accurate food and drinks orders using POS or memorization
• Communicate order details to Kitchen Staff
• Check dishes and kitchenware for cleanliness and presentation
• Arrange table settings and maintain a tidy dining area
• Deliver checks and collect bill payments
• Carry dirty plates and glassware to kitchen for cleaning
• Review daily specials and reservations with staff

The Main Purpose of the job

The incumbent will be responsible for taking orders and deliver food and beverages to customers serving customers, providing detailed information on menus, multi-tasking various front-of-the-house duties.

Education and Experience required:

• Minimum of 1 year experience as a waiter in catering environment is essential


• Matric is essential


• Experience in a Hotel environment will be an advantage


• Butler or Housekeeping experience

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

• Knowledge of and compliance with food safety standards.


• Proven work experience as a Waiter or Waitress


• Hands-on experience with cash register and ordering information system


• Basic math skills

• Deliver checks and collect bill payments


• Carry dirty plates, glasses, and silverware to kitchen for cleaning


• Meet with restaurant staff to review daily specials, changes on the menu and service specifications for reservations (e.g., parties)


• Follow all relevant health department regulations


• Provide excellent customer service to guests
