Job description

Faircape Restaurant and Catering, part of Faircape Life retirement villages, operates in 6 prime locations across the Western Cape, providing dining services to village residents and patients in the onsite healthcare centres.

We are seeking a Waiter to join the team at our facility Heritage Manor in Somerset West. (Preference will be given to candidates residing close to the Somerset West area)
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring guests and residents are served with professionalism, efficiency, and courtesy.

Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Changing table linen as required and ensuring dirty or damaged linen is counted and exchanged for clean, usable items.
  2. Cleaning and refilling cruet and condiment sets.
  3. Setting tables to laid-down standards, ensuring that all items used are clean, undamaged and in a good state of repair.
  4. Maintain designated areas to meet required hygiene standards.
  5. Have thorough knowledge of all menu items to confidently recommend or explain options to residents.
  6. Serving food and beverages in accordance with laid-down standards, maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.
  7. Practicing excellent customer relations at all times, accommodating resident needs without inconveniencing other guests.
  8. Handling customer complaints effectively and reporting all complaints to the manager.
  9. Assisting with daily, weekly and monthly stock audits, reporting variances or breakages to your manager.
  10. Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies.
  11. Ensuring accurate billing of orders and reporting any errors to the manager.
  12. Maintaining high standards of personal hygiene and grooming.
  13. Be willing to assist outside of normal working hours with private events as required.

Experience and knowledge:

  1. Proven experience as Waiter.
  2. Bartending and Barista experience advantageous.
  3. Excellent customer service skills.
  4. Ability to work as part of a team.
  5. Knowledge of serving etiquette and basic wine knowledge.

Basic salary from R 6,000 Cost to Company per month. Please note, we offer a fixed salary, no tips.

Your total salary will include Sundays - remunerated at time and a half, public holidays - double, and quarterly bonuses paid every 3 months. Please note, quarterly bonuses are discretionary and based on individual performance and company performance.

Working hours:
You will be required to work 16.25 shifts per month. Normal working days are Mondays to Sundays from 07h00 to 19h00, according to the roster.
