VP - Africa Investments – Banking and Fintech – Cape Town

Do you have a keen interest and understanding of the fintech sector and its potential to scale the banking and financial services sector across Africa?

Our client is a market leading investor into banks and financial technology business across RSA and the rest of Africa.

They seek to strengthen their investment team with an experienced investment professional or investment banker who has worked on and closed transactions across Africa.

You will support the Investment Directors, the CEO and the Board, both in the organisation and execution of transactions, as well as in the monitoring of the Investment portfolio. Supported by experienced Associates you will play a leading role in assessing and executing new investments, bolt on acquisitions, track and influence commercial outcomes in portfolio performance.

Key responsibilities:

1. Understanding of banking, financial services and fintech companies.
2. Ability to perform financial analysis, review financial statements and valuations on banks, non-banks, and fintech companies.
3. Ability to review board packs and prepare reports on findings.
4. Ability to interact with investee management.
5. Ability to participate in and contribute to due diligence assignments.
6. Assists in the transaction cycle from identification to negotiations and closing and monitoring the investment thereafter.
7. Assist in the development of junior team members.
8. Grow the investment team and assume a more senior role in the future.
9. Take overall responsibility for the quarterly reporting of allocated portfolio investments.

To secure this influential role you will need to have previous pan African deal experience and enjoy travelling to assess businesses and potentially hold some board seats with investee companies across the region. The ideal track record could come from 7 to 10 years experience gained in either Private Equity, Investment Banking, M&A advisory or strategic Financial Services Consultancy.

You will also need to be an expert at transaction financial modelling and have strong commercial insight to drive successful business outcomes.
