Our client, a proud member of the Retail Motor Industry Organisation (RMI), is a specialized repair and service centre looking to employ an experienced Volvo Technician.

Role Overview: A qualified Volvo Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles. The role requires in-depth knowledge of automotive systems and proficiency with diagnostic tools and technologies to ensure vehicles are safe, reliable, and compliant with regulations. Delivering high-quality service to ensure customer satisfaction is essential.

Remuneration: Market-related, including benefits such as Provident Fund.

POSITION DETAILS:

  • Manage the customer experience from booking to vehicle handover, maintaining clear communication and transparency.
  • Support front-of-house staff during absences or busy periods to ensure service continuity.
  • Prioritize customer satisfaction, focusing on CSI scores.
  • Engage with customers to understand vehicle issues, document symptoms, explain actions, upsell services, and provide updates.
  • Use approved Volvo diagnostic tools to identify faults accurately and efficiently.
  • Perform service, maintenance, and repairs according to Volvo standards and specifications.
  • Adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations while working efficiently.
  • Share technical knowledge, participate in ongoing training, and mentor junior technicians.
  • Follow Volvo and retailer standards for service and repair documentation.
  • Identify safety recalls, software updates, and service campaigns to keep vehicles current.
  • Support quality assurance and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Collaborate with parts, service advisors, and workshop control for seamless service delivery.
  • Maintain workshop cleanliness, organize tools, and ensure equipment maintenance.
  • Conduct vehicle road tests before and after repairs to confirm issues are resolved.

Requirements :

  • Proof of Technician Qualification (Trade Test / Red Seal)
  • Minimum Grade 12 / Matric
  • Valid, unendorsed Driver’s License
  • Experience as a Vehicle Technician, preferably with Volvo
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle electrical systems
  • Proficiency with Volvo VIDA diagnostic software and Launch CRM tools (or similar)
  • Good computer skills and experience with modern diagnostic systems
  • Technical proficiency and workshop experience
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and time management
  • Knowledge of fault-finding techniques and diagnostics
  • Excellent communication skills and customer focus
