Introduction
Our CLIENT in the MINING INDUSTRY requires the services of a VICE PRESIDENT ENGINEERING AND DECARBONISATION at their plant in the GAUTENG AREA as soon as possible.

Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive and participate in the development and implementation of the Group climate change policy, governance, strategy, objectives, and targets.
- Set the Group energy, GHG emissions, and decarbonisation policy, governance, strategy, objectives, and targets in line with the Group Strategy.
- Ensure strategic and operational plans are aligned with the Group Energy and Decarbonisation Strategy across all regions.
- Drive the delivery of carbon neutrality by 2040 / net carbon zero by 2050.
- Assess corporate strategy opportunities relating to energy and decarbonisation.
- Provide strategic guidance on, and support in the integration of, mergers and acquisitions related to energy and decarbonisation.
- Lead coordination of the Group demand-side energy management strategy and ensure regional compliance.
- Enhance sustainability through reduced energy and carbon costs.
- Support the development of South Africa's electricity supply industry for decarbonisation.
- Implement operational adaptation and resilience strategies related to climate change, energy, and GHG emissions.
- Demonstrate thought leadership in climate change management, risks, and governance.
- Stay abreast of latest developments and innovations in energy through industry liaising and representation.
- Ensure compliance with legal frameworks (ICMM, WGC, UNGC, etc.) related to GHG emissions management.
- Assess, plan, source, and negotiate alternative energy supplies.
- Represent the company in relevant industry forums and bodies.
- Explore and utilize supportive climate change, energy, and decarbonisation technologies.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Minimum Required Qualification:
- Have NQF 7 (Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma) in Engineering.
The appointee should:
- Have at least 10 years’ experience in a related role, with 5 years in management or specialist areas.
- Have a clear security screening record.
- Possess a valid driver’s license (if applicable).
- Be declared medically fit for the role.
Advantageous Qualifications:
- Have NQF 8 (Postgraduate Diploma / Honours Degree / Professional Qualification Degree) in Engineering.
- Possess an MBA.
