Job summary

Helderberg Personnel in the Western Cape is seeking a Vineyard Foreman to coordinate daily vineyard operations, supervise staff and contractors, and oversee seasonal activities such as pruning and harvesting. You will monitor vine health, manage irrigation, and ensure safe, efficient operations throughout the growing season.

The role requires practical experience with tractors and vineyard equipment, strong planning and communication skills, and a proactive approach to safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Experience in vineyard operations, preferably in a supervisory role.
• Knowledge of viticulture, vineyard maintenance, irrigation and grape-growing practices.
• Experience with tractors, agricultural equipment and chemical handling.
• Ability to supervise and motivate staff and contract teams.
• Strong organisational and planning abilities.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Proactive, dependable and able to work independently.
• Commitment to workplace safety and grape quality.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily vineyard operations with the Farm Manager.
• Supervise vineyard staff, tractor operators and contractors.
• Plan seasonal activities: pruning, harvesting, irrigation, maintenance.
• Monitor vine health, pests, weeds; report concerns.
• Assist with grape sampling and quality monitoring.
• Oversee irrigation programmes and system maintenance.
• Operate tractors and agricultural machinery as needed.
• Manage chemical stocks and vineyard supplies safely.
• Ensure machinery is maintained and faults reported.
• Train staff and enforce vineyard procedures and standards.
• Maintain clean, safe vineyards and working areas.
• Uphold health, safety and emergency procedures.
• Support Farm Manager with planning and duties.
