Job summary

Helderberg Personnel CC is seeking a hands-on Vineyard Supervisor in Stellenbosch to coordinate growing season activities and ensure high grape quality. You will manage staff, tractor operators and contract workers, plan seasonal tasks, monitor vine health, and uphold safety standards across the vineyard and related farm activities.

This role requires practical viticulture knowledge and strong organisational ability, with a proactive, independent approach.

Qualifications

• Experience in vineyard operations, with supervisory duties.
• Knowledge of viticulture, irrigation, pruning and grape growth.
• Practical experience with tractors and agricultural chemical handling.
• Ability to supervise and motivate employees and contract teams.
• A qualification in Viticulture or Agriculture is advantageous.
• Strong organisational and planning abilities.
• Good communication and teamwork.
• Hands-on, proactive approach and ability to work independently.
• Commitment to workplace safety and grape quality.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily vineyard operations with the Farm Manager.
• Supervise vineyard employees, tractor operators and contract workers.
• Plan and oversee seasonal activities such as pruning and harvesting.
• Monitor vine health, pests and weeds; report concerns.
• Assist with grape sampling and quality monitoring.
• Oversee irrigation programmes and assist with system maintenance.
• Operate tractors and agricultural machinery as required.
• Manage chemical stocks and vineyard supplies.
• Ensure machinery is maintained and faults reported.
• Train new employees and enforce procedures.
• Maintain clean, safe vineyards and working areas.
• Uphold health, safety and emergency procedures.
• Assist with cellar operations and other farm activities when required.
• Support Farm Manager with planning and take ownership of duties.
