Job description

The Video Engineer will be responsible for owning and driving the organisations Video practice, utilizing expertise in surveillance video management systems and video analytics. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in enhancing our robust camera network and software platform by researching, evaluating, implementing, and supporting top-tier video surveillance solutions. Your objective is to ensure the reliability, performance, and security of our video surveillance platforms. Collaborating closely with our technology and software development teams, you will ensure the organisation remains at the forefront of Video Surveillance and analytics technology, solidifying our position as a leader in the industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse and optimize current Video Management Systems.
  • Analyse and optimize current usage of Video Analytics.
  • Make recommendations to both internal and external stakeholders on how video management systems and analytics should be implemented and optimised.
  • Become the video surveillance subject matter expert in our business.
  • Perform competitive analysis and recommend improvements and enhancements.
  • Assist with optimisation of the organisation's video platforms.
  • Train and mentor operational staff on optimal configuration of video analytics.
  • Keep up to date with the latest trends in video surveillance technology.
  • Brief development teams on integration to existing software platforms.
  • Source and recommend video analytics solutions for market vertical applications (retail, manufacturing, public safety, etc.).
  • Optimise existing video analytics for peak performance and accuracy.
  • Optimise existing video management systems.
  • Work with the product and sales teams to ensure we develop viable commercial offerings.
  • Improve operational efficiency and effectiveness of video systems at scale.

Qualifications

  • Degree/Diploma in Information Technology.

Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in an IT role.
  • Experience with implementing, maintaining, and optimising large, enterprise-grade Video Management Systems.
  • Experience with implementing, maintaining, and optimising large, enterprise-grade Video Analytics Systems.
  • Experience with Video Analytics, computer vision, YOLO, OpenCV, or other deep learning technologies would be beneficial.
  • Experience working with IP video surveillance cameras.
  • Knowledge of the video surveillance market, capabilities, and limitations.
  • Have strong interpersonal and communication skills with staff at various levels.
  • Creative, solution-driven attitude.
  • Be willing to work in an agile environment where changes are frequent, and technologies evolve.
  • Experience with top-tier Video Management systems such as Milestone XProtect, HikCentral Professional, or similar.
  • Experience with Video analytics systems such as iSentry, Deep Alert, or similar.
  • A good understanding of Windows and Linux server environments.
  • A good understanding of basic networking concepts.
