Video Editor & Motion Designer – Social-First Content
R18,000–R25,000 per month (3 days a week)
South Africa (Remote) | Part-Time (3 Days a Week) | UK Business Hours
We’re Looking for a Video Editor & Motion Designer
We’re hiring on behalf of a fast-growing UK creative agency producing social-first photo and video content for leading brands.
Their clients span automotive, lifestyle, sport and hospitality, and together they turn out 150–200 pieces of content every month.
They’re looking for a seriously good editor with strong motion graphics and design skills to own the edit.
And we’re looking for someone who is creative, detail-obsessed and genuinely lives and breathes social media.
This isn’t a role for a traditional film and TV editor who treats social as an afterthought.
It’s for someone who knows exactly what stops the scroll, what keeps people watching and how to tell a story in 30 seconds.
You’ll cut short-form content for Reels, TikTok and Shorts, build motion graphics and design assets, and make every brand look premium.
An interest in sport, especially endurance sports like cycling and triathlon, would be a huge advantage.
But more than anything, they want someone with a standout portfolio who can make content that looks great and performs.
The Opportunity
You’ll join a small, ambitious agency that’s growing fast and taking on new clients all the time.
There are no layers of sign-off. You’ll own the edit, make creative calls and see your work go straight out.
You’ll work across a real mix of brands, from car launches to triathlon to hospitality, so no two weeks look the same.
The team works closely with clients, so you’ll be in shared channels with them and can go straight to the source when you have a question.
Every job comes with a clear brief, but you’ll have plenty of autonomy in how you bring it to life.
As the agency grows, so can this role. There’s a clear path to leading the edit team, with editors working under you.
This is an opportunity to shape the creative output of a growing agency, not just export files.
- Edit short-form content for Reels, TikTok and Shorts across a portfolio of retainer clients.
- Tell compelling stories in short-form video, not just cut down longer content.
- Create motion graphics, animated type, titles and branded transitions.
- Design graphics and assets in Photoshop to support video content.
- Cut ad variations and campaign content built to perform.
- Edit longer-form content, including automotive and brand films.
- Edit content for the agency’s own social channels.
- Work on ad hoc client projects as they come in.
- Colour grade footage so every piece looks polished and on-brand.
- Handle sound work, including music selection, mixing and sound design.
- Turn content around quickly without letting quality slip.
- Communicate directly with clients in shared channels when questions come up.
- Keep footage, projects and assets well organised.
- Help shape the agency’s editing standards as the team grows
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will:
- Have a standout portfolio showing strong editing, motion and design work.
- Have excellent editing skills in Premiere Pro (DaVinci Resolve also considered).
- Have strong motion design skills in After Effects.
- Be confident in Photoshop, with a good eye for graphic design and typography.
- Have 2 or more years of professional editing and motion graphics experience.
- Have a deep understanding of social-first content, including 9:16 formats, hooks and audience retention.
- Be able to tell a story in short-form video, not just clip highlights.
- Have a sharp eye for pacing, music, typography and detail.
- Be able to work at pace across high content volumes without compromising quality.
- Be highly organised and able to manage multiple briefs and deadlines.
- Be a proactive self-starter who can figure things out without constant direction.
- Be confident speaking directly with clients.
- Have excellent written and spoken English.
- Have reliable fibre internet and power backup to handle large footage files.
Bonus
- An interest in sport, particularly cycling, triathlon or endurance sport.
- Experience editing long-form content such as brand films, automotive content or YouTube.
- 3D or advanced animation skills.
- Experience using AI tools in your workflow.
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Someone who scrolls social and instantly knows why one video works and another doesn’t.
- Someone who understands that the first three seconds decide whether anyone watches the rest.
- Someone who treats sound, colour and typography as part of the craft, not finishing touches.
- Someone who takes pride in making every brand look premium, whatever the deadline.
- Someone who’s genuinely good to work with and wants to have fun doing it.
Great content is made in the details. We want someone who lives there.
This Probably Isn’t the Role for You If...
- You come from a traditional film or TV background and aren’t excited by social media.
- Your short-form work is mostly cut-downs of podcasts or long-form content.
- Motion graphics, After Effects and Photoshop aren’t a core part of your skill set.
- You prefer long feedback loops and someone else making the final creative call.
- You’re uncomfortable speaking directly with clients.
- You struggle to keep up with high volumes and fast turnarounds. You need constant direction rather than owning your work.
- Your internet or power setup can’t handle large file transfers reliably.
We’re looking for someone who makes content that looks premium and performs.
Tools, Technology & Ways of Working
- You’ll work primarily in the Adobe suite: Premiere Pro, After Effects and Photoshop. DaVinci Resolve users will also be considered.
- The team works remotely and collaborates in Slack, including shared channels with clients.
- You’ll keep footage, project files and assets organised so work can be picked up and delivered quickly.
- Using AI tools to speed up your workflow is welcomed and encouraged.
- R18,000–R25,000 per month for 3 days a week, depending on experience.
- Fully remote from South Africa.
- Part-time position, 3 days a week, working UK business hours.
- UK bank holidays.
- Work across a varied portfolio of automotive, lifestyle, sport and hospitality brands.
- Creative ownership, with your work going straight out without layers of sign-off.
- A clear path to leading the edit team as the agency grows.
Why This Opportunity?

- Own the edit and push the creative for well-known automotive, sport, lifestyle and hospitality brands.
- See your work go live quickly, without layers of approval.
- Build a standout social-first portfolio.

- Practical Assessment. Show us how you’d edit and animate a short-form piece for social.
- Final Interview. Meet the agency founder and discuss the opportunity in more detail.
