About Us:

TrendLAB is a dynamic and growing media production company with a passion for storytelling and high-impact visuals. We believe in creating compelling content that captures attention, drives engagement, and tells our brand’s unique story. Our work spans across industries, and we’re proud to create content for an exciting roster of clients that includes Boerboel Wear, b.Active, Stefan van der Merwe, etc. Whether it’s social content, branded videos, or campaign storytelling, we bring fresh, creative energy to every project. We're currently looking for a Video Editor with a sharp eye for storytelling, pacing, and visual detail to join our creative team.

Job Description:

As a Video Editor, you’ll be responsible for turning raw footage into polished, engaging videos that align with our creative goals and brand voice. You’ll work closely with producers, creatives, and marketing team members to deliver high-quality edits across multiple platforms. In addition to post-production work, you’ll occasionally assist the production team on shoots - helping with setup, gear, and capturing footage as needed. This is a hands-on role that blends technical skill, creative storytelling, and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Edit raw video footage into finished content for use across digital channels (social media, website, paid ads, internal content, etc.)
  • Assemble and refine rough cuts while incorporating feedback and creative direction.
  • Add music, sound effects, colour grading, graphics, and basic animation as needed.
  • Ensure all content is delivered on-brand, on-time, and optimised for its platform.
  • Organise and manage video files, project assets, and edit timelines.
  • Maintain quality and consistency across all video projects.
  • Stay current on editing trends, tools, and techniques.
  • Assist the production team on set as needed (e.g., setting up lights, managing equipment, capturing b-roll footage).

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of professional video editing experience.
  • Proficiency in video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut or similar).
  • Strong understanding of storytelling, pacing, transitions, and visual flow.
  • Basic knowledge of production equipment and on-set protocols.
  • Familiarity with colour correction, sound design, and exporting for various platforms.
  • Ability to take direction, work independently, and manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Positive attitude and a collaborative mindset.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with motion graphics and visual effects (Adobe After Effects or similar).
  • Knowledge of video formats for web, mobile, and social platforms (YouTube, Instagram Reels, TikTok, etc.).
  • Strong portfolio or demo reel showcasing a range of video styles and formats.
  • Background in marketing, social content, or branded video is a plus.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive compensation based on experience
  • The opportunity to work on content for top-tier brands and innovative startups
  • A steady stream of diverse projects, from fast-paced social edits to long-form storytelling
  • Collaborative and creative team environment
  • Opportunities for professional growth and creative input
  • Professional development support – access to courses, training, or conferences to help you grow your skills
  • A healthy work-life balance with clear communication, realistic timelines, and respect for creative energy
  • Fun team culture with regular team-building outings

Application Process:

  • Round 2 - Online Interview with the Head of Video Production and a test editing opportunity
