Job Title: Vibrating Equipment Technician

We are seeking a qualified technician with experience in servicing vibrating equipment, including Vibrating Screens, Vibrating Grizzlys, and Vibrating Feeders to join our Field Services team.

You will be responsible for testing, consulting, maintaining, and repairing equipment on industrial and mining customer sites across Africa.

You will be required to provide expert-level service and feedback to customers on equipment performance and production improvement activities related to the products being supported.

As part of the Metso Field Services team, you will receive Metso-specific product training and certification, but prior hands-on experience is required to be a successful candidate.

You will report to the Field Services Manager. This position is based at the Metso Alrode Service Centre, Alberton.

Team, You Belong To

You will join a team of technicians dedicated to installation, commissioning, planned maintenance, and repairs on a range of Metso equipment. We are currently conducting mechanical maintenance work on crushers, screens, flotation cells, conditioners, pumps, pipes, grinding mills, thickeners, filters, conveyors, and other crucial plant areas to ensure continued operation.

You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, Metso product specialists, and Field Service Support teams.

What You'll Do
  • Work as a member of a maintenance team for assembly, installation, commissioning, planned maintenance, and repairs to Metso Vibrating Equipment.
  • Perform detailed testing using Metso technology and optimize equipment performance.
  • Ensure all work is planned, organized, and completed on schedule.
  • Ensure work meets statutory requirements and company standards.
  • Maintain housekeeping duties of the maintenance area.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance personnel to optimize plant performance and site maintenance.
  • Ensure a safe work environment and compliance with SHEQ regulations and standards.
  • Review and suggest improvements to occupational health, safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Other duties as directed by the Line Manager.
  • Maintain 5S within the working environment.
  • Assist in additional reasonable tasks as needed.
  • Maximize performance on all equipment.
  • Complete job cards, logbooks, and inspection reports.
Who You Are
  • Trade tested fitter or millwright as a minimum.
  • Minimum 5 years of industrial or mining experience on vibration equipment.
  • Understanding principles of professional customer relations and interaction.
  • Effective communication skills with a drive and performance orientation.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
What Skills and Competencies Are Essential

Leadership, relationship-building qualities, a bias for action, and detail-oriented behaviors are required. A self-motivated individual capable of working under stress and meeting deadlines. Strong technical, analytical, and mechanical skills. Physically fit to work in hazardous conditions. Reside within Gauteng district and be able to respond within 45 minutes to breakdown calls.
