Job summary

Tsebo Solutions Group in South Africa seeks a kitchen assistant to support meal preparation, especially salads and desserts, and to ensure timely plating of entrees for service. You will maintain clean servery areas, stock servers, and help manage leftovers while upholding hygiene and safety standards.

The role requires good teamwork, reliability, and the ability to handle busy kitchen environments. Prior experience in fine dining is a plus, and matric is expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year in a similar position.
• Experience in fine dining upsell/upmarket restaurant experience is advantageous.
• Matric is required.
• Culinary qualification would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of meals, especially salads and desserts.

• Keep the server well stocked and clean.
• Stores and records food leftovers.
• Where applicable, ensure stock in the designated area is counted and signed over to the following shift.
• Keep staff restaurant tables, kitchen and other areas clean and orderly.
• Ensure that cleanliness and hygiene standards per Company and statutory regulations are met.
• Required to food samples as requested/required by the business.
• Ensure a high level of customer service within the area of responsibility.
• Report and where possible take action when faced with customer complaints.
