Job Title: UX/UI Designer (12-Month Contract)

Department: Research & Development – UX/UI

Location: Johannesburg, South Africa (On-site)

Reports To: Head of R&D / Product Manager / Lead Designer

Contract Type: Fixed-Term (1 Year)

We are looking for a creative, analytical, and user-focused UX/UI Designer to join our team on a 12-month contract.

You will support several key product initiatives and help elevate the user experience across our platforms.

Position Overview

As a UX/UI Designer, you will work across multiple digital products (web and mobile) to design intuitive, elegant, and impactful user experiences. Collaborating with product managers, developers, QA engineers, and other stakeholders, you will translate business goals and user needs into wireframes, prototypes, and polished interfaces.

You will be central to the visual and functional evolution of our platforms, including tools for route planning, driver performance, fuel management, and asset tracking.

Key Responsibilities

UX Research & Strategy

- Conduct user research (interviews, surveys, usability testing) to inform product direction

- Create user personas, journey maps, and interaction flows

- Define and document UX problems and recommend solutions

- Analyze product usage patterns to identify friction points and design opportunities

Wireframing & Prototyping

- Develop low- and high-fidelity wireframes and prototypes using tools like Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch

- Rapidly iterate on designs based on feedback and data

- Create responsive design flows for desktop, tablet, and mobile platforms

- Collaborate with development teams to ensure feasibility and accurate implementation

Visual Design

- Design clean, modern, and intuitive user interfaces aligned with the Globaltrack brand

- Maintain and expand the design system and style guides

- Create UI assets including icons, illustrations, and animations as needed

- Ensure adherence to accessibility (WCAG) and usability best practices

Collaboration & Handoff

- Present design concepts to stakeholders and iterate based on feedback

- Work closely with frontend developers to ensure pixel-perfect implementation

- Contribute to product documentation and user guides as needed

- Support QA in validating UI behavior against design specifications

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Digital Media, HCI, or a related field

- 3+ years of professional experience in UX/UI design for web and/or mobile platforms

- Strong proficiency in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and working with design systems

- Solid understanding of user-centered design, usability, and accessibility principles

- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum product development workflows

- Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS/JavaScript is a plus (for collaboration, not coding)

- Experience designing enterprise tools or data-driven platforms is advantageous

- A portfolio demonstrating UX thinking and polished UI design is required
