Utility Manager position available in Johannesburg.
The Utility Manager is responsible for overseeing the utility management function across a national property portfolio. This includes ensuring accurate tenant billing, managing consumption data, driving sustainability initiatives, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and client service standards.
This role is ideal for a proactive, detail-oriented professional with strong leadership abilities and a passion for environmental sustainability and operational efficiency.
Salary: R70 000 – R80 000 per month.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor utility usage (electricity, water, gas, diesel) across the portfolio and report variances.
- Ensure accurate billing and recovery from tenants, including regular audits and reviews.
- Manage the relationship and service level agreement with the utility management service provider.
- Coordinate responses to council queries and perform annual tariff audits.
- Oversee the asset register and ensure effective asset identification and tracking.
- Lead green initiatives and sustainability projects, including leak detection and water-saving programs.
- Administer generator and diesel usage reporting and recovery.
- Ensure single-line diagram accuracy and site balancing performance reviews.
- Prepare ESG and sustainability reports, and manage Green Building Council certifications.
- Drive cost-saving efforts through efficient utility management practices.
- Supervise and guide utility-related staff, providing training and performance feedback.
- Conduct annual utility training sessions for internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including tenants, clients, and vendors.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations (e.g., OHSA).
Minimum Requirements:
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a utility management or similar role.
- Experience with utility billing, tenant liaison, and council engagement.
- Project management exposure, particularly in sustainability or maintenance initiatives.

Educational Requirements:
- Senior Certificate with Mathematics required.
- Studying towards or holding a Diploma in Utility Management preferred.
