Job summary

West Coast Personnel is seeking a Production/Equipment Operator to ensure safe and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment, minimise breakdowns and maintain product quality.

The role requires a Grade 12 certificate with a trade test, up to 3 years of operator experience, and basic computer literacy including SAP and ERP systems. You will work with Negative/Positive Pasting Lines and support continuous production with a focus on safety and quality.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 certificate (NQF 4) and electrical or mechanical trade test.
  • Up to 3 years' operator experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic computer literacy including MS Office, SAP and ERP systems.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain Negative and Positive Pasting Lines, including the Expander, Tab Blanker, Hopper, Divider and Stacker in accordance with supplier operating manuals.
  • Ensure production equipment consistently produces quality products at the required production rates.
  • Monitor and maintain extraction and cooling systems to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Carry out first-line repairs and maintenance to minimise equipment failures and production downtime.
  • Complete job cards before maintenance work commences.
  • Accurately complete production logs, attribute charts and SPC documentation in accordance with work instructions.
  • Operate within company procedures, policies and manufacturing standards.
  • Identify and report equipment faults, risks and operational concerns to the Section Manager.
  • Promote safe working practices and maintain high housekeeping standards.
  • Support cost control initiatives by reducing waste and ensuring the effective use of materials and resources.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and internal customers.
  • Identify and resolve operational problems while maintaining AutoX's quality and service standards.

Minimum Requirements:

Technical Competencies:
  • Knowledge of manufacturing equipment operation and maintenance.

  • Knowledge of housekeeping and workplace safety principles.
  • Ability to operate machinery in accordance with supplier operating manuals.
  • Basic fault-finding and preventative maintenance knowledge.
