Utilities Analyst required in Johannesburg North.
Our client is looking for a Utilities Analyst to drive the optimization of utility costs and recoveries.
This role requires a combination of financial, legal, and technical analysis to ensure accurate reporting, cost efficiency, and continual training and development across the utilities team.
The role also contributes to ESG reporting and stakeholder engagement to support operational excellence.
Salary: R25 000 – R27 500 per month.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Utility Cost Optimization & Recovery
- Conduct financial, legal, and technical analysis of utility costs and recoveries.
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly utility reporting.
- Track and maintain benefit realization from implemented optimization initiatives.
- Provide analysis and insights essential for ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) data reporting.
Operational Efficiency & Innovation
- Proactively identify and drive opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
- Research and explore new innovations, technologies, and practices in utility management.
- Monitor and improve utility procedures and ensure compliance across the portfolio.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare and deliver reconciliations and monthly utility reports in line with SLA requirements.
- Ensure utility recommendations and queries are captured, tracked, and resolved within timelines.
- Assist in the compilation of data and reports for sustainability and internal reporting.
Training & Development
- Lead training initiatives and knowledge sharing to upskill the utilities team.
- Support team development in utility management best practices and new solutions.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Resolve client and stakeholder queries via meetings, phone, or email.
- Support leasing teams in verifying and resolving utility-related issues.
- Liaise with internal departments, tenants, service providers, and council representatives to resolve complex issues.
Minimum Requirements:
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in utility management, preferably in the facilities or property industry.
Education:
- Grade 12 (Senior Certificate) with Mathematics.
- Additional relevant qualifications or training in utilities, finance, or facilities management are advantageous.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong analytical, financial, and legal aptitude related to utilities.
- Advanced computer literacy, especially Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- In-depth knowledge of municipal and Eskom tariffs, bylaws, and accounting processes.
- Familiarity with South African municipal procedures and compliance standards.
- Ability to integrate technical, legal, and financial information into practical utility strategies.
- Excellent report writing and documentation skills.
- Strong organizational, communication, and negotiation abilities.
