Job description

Our well-known automotive dealer client based in Pretoria currently has a vacancy for a Used Car Sales Manager. The ideal candidate must be able to sell a minimum of 40 vehicles per month.

This position is regarded as a key management role and is suited to an experienced manager who can attract clients, provide excellent customer service, motivate staff, control costs, and maintain high sales levels consistently.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Dealer Principal, the Used Sales Manager is fully responsible for managing the Used Vehicle department, including:

Specific Role Responsibilities
  • Maximizing sales and profitability through customer satisfaction and retention to meet sales forecasts
  • Developing the sales organization to meet sales and profitability objectives
  • Ensuring optimal stock of vehicles on premises
  • Controlling costs within the department budget
  • Maintaining adequate stock levels of cars and display materials
  • Reviewing pricing policies, discounts, and trade-in deals to ensure profitability
  • Monitoring weekly financial performance of the Sales Department
  • Handling customer complaints promptly and effectively
  • Ensuring vehicle delivery meets the Vehicle Delivery Quality Index (VDQI)
  • Achieving departmental targets for CE
  • Managing direct and indirect costs within company parameters
  • Training sales staff on new model launches
  • Establishing staffing levels and training to meet sales objectives
  • Monitoring all floorplan activities
  • Maintaining stock levels within company policy
  • Maximizing sales of back-end products
Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum Grade 12
  • At least 3 years in a managerial role within the motor vehicle industry
  • Sales tertiary qualification is an advantage
  • Clear criminal record
  • Valid driver’s license
