Job description

Our well-known automotive dealer client based in Umkomaas currently has a vacancy for a Used Car Sales Manager. This position is regarded as a key management role and will be suited to an experienced manager who has the ability to attract clients, provide excellent customer service, motivate staff, control costs, and maintain high levels of sales on an ongoing basis.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Dealer Principal, the Used Sales Manager is fully responsible for managing the Used Vehicle department, which includes:

Specific Role Responsibilities
  • Maximizing sales and profitability through customer satisfaction and retention to meet sales forecasts.
  • Developing the sales organization to meet sales and profitability objectives.
  • Ensuring an optimum stock of cars on premises.
  • Controlling costs within the department budget.
  • Maintaining adequate stocks of cars and product display materials.
  • Reviewing all pricing policies, discounts, and trade-in deals to maintain dealership profitability.
  • Monitoring the sales department's financial performance weekly.
  • Addressing customer complaints promptly and effectively.
  • Ensuring vehicle delivery meets the Vehicle Delivery Quality Index (VDQI).
  • Achieving departmental targets for Customer Experience (CE).
  • Keeping direct and indirect costs within company parameters.
  • Providing sales staff with training on new model launches.
  • Establishing staffing levels and training to meet sales goals.
  • Monitoring all floorplan activities.
  • Maintaining stock levels according to company policy.
  • Maximizing sales of back-end products.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum Grade 12 qualification.
  • At least 3 years in a managerial role within the motor vehicle industry.
  • Sales tertiary qualification is an advantage.
  • Clear criminal record.
  • Valid driver’s license.
Skills and Personal Attributes
  • Ability to manage, motivate, and lead a department with effective organization and systems.
  • Ability to motivate a sales team to achieve objectives.
