Job summary

A maritime staffing company in Cape Town is seeking an Upholsterer responsible for repairing and maintaining upholstery in cabins and public spaces. Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain upholstery works in cabins and public spaces.
  • Correctly use wallpapers for decoration.
  • Lay carpets and linoleum as needed.
  • Report missing spare parts and coordinate with supervisors.
  • Transfer knowledge on best practices for upholstery maintenance.
  • Support the Deck team in emergencies.
  • Assist the Furniture & Interior Officer Team as instructed.

Job description

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

Duties include (but are not limited to):

  1. The Upholsterer is responsible for repairing and maintaining upholstery works in cabins, all public spaces, and lounges. This includes upholstering sofas, chairs, stools, and covering large areas as needed.
  2. Correct use of wallpapers.
  3. Lay carpets and linoleum.
  4. Report missing spare parts, verify correct delivery in coordination with the supervisor, and request materials from the Storekeeper Facility.
  5. Transfer knowledge on best practices for upholstery maintenance.
  6. Support the Deck team in emergency cases.
  7. Assist the Furniture & Interior Officer Team under the instructions of the Facility Manager and Furniture Interiors Officer when needed.

The Upholsterer supports an effective and sustainable health and safety culture on board by strictly following HESS regulations and all health and safety protocols to prevent disease spread. Any violations observed should be reported to the Head of Department.
