Job description

Our client in the telecommunications sector is seeking a UNIX Administrator on a contract duration of 6 to 12 months.

Position Info:

Must have the following skills:

Technical Competencies include:

• Strong technological background.
• 6 to 8 years of UNIX Administration experience.
• Hands-on experience in Cluster & Volume management.
• Experience with virtualization techniques.
• Unix System Administrator to manage production and pre-production environment servers running Linux, Solaris, and IBM-AIX.
• Experience with administration tools, commands, and shell scripting.
• Experience with multiprocess/multithread applications.
• Application Server experience (Forte, BEA WebLogic, JBoss).
• In-depth knowledge of Solaris, Linux, Apache, and SAN.
• Systems maintenance experience in a Unix data center environment.
• Strong experience with system management tools, logical file systems, and client/server environments.
• Hardware configuration knowledge and expertise in the Telecom Domain.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Demonstrated initiative, customer orientation, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
• Knowledge of Oracle, RMAN, Veritas NetBackup, IBM Tivoli, Nagios.
• Main Operating Systems: Linux (Red Hat & OEL), IBM-AIX, Solaris SDS and ZFS, Veritas, EXT3, AIX LVM, Veritas HA and RAC, HP Service Guard.

Hands-on experience in the following activities:

• Backups and purging as per project requests.
• Monitoring environment usage.
• Providing support during test executions, including out-of-hours work if needed.
• Shell programming.
