Placements24 is seeking an experienced University Librarian with a specialization in Research Support to join the Richards Bay academic library services team. You will empower faculty, researchers, and students by providing expert assistance in literature searching, data management, scholarly communication, and citation practices.

You will collaborate with faculty to integrate library resources and research support services into academic programs and curricula, and you will manage collections

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking University Librarian with a specialization in Research Support to join their academic library services team in Richards Bay. This critical role will focus on empowering faculty, researchers, and students by providing expert assistance in literature searching, data management, scholarly communication, and citation practices. You will be instrumental in fostering a research-intensive environment by connecting the university community with vital information resources and services. Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialized research support services, including advanced literature searching, citation management assistance, and scholarly impact analysis.
• Develop and deliver workshops and training sessions on research methodologies, academic integrity, and the effective use of library resources.
• Advise researchers on data management planning, open access publishing, and copyright considerations.
• Collaborate with faculty to integrate library resources and research support services into academic programs and curricula.
• Manage and curate relevant collections in various formats to support research and teaching needs in designated subject areas.

Requirements

• A Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or an equivalent accredited qualification.
• At least 5 years of progressive experience in an academic library setting, with a focus on research support services.
• Demonstrated expertise in scholarly databases, research methodologies, citation tools, and open access initiatives.
• Strong understanding of research data management principles and practices.
• Excellent communication, teaching, and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse academic users.
