Unit Manager | Occupational Health Nurse

Function: Nursing Facility Northern Cape, Inland North

Position: Unit Manager | Occupational Health Nurse

Introduction:

A vacancy exists for a Unit Manager reporting to the Business Manager, based at the Life Occupational Health clinic in Khumani Mine, Northern Cape. The successful candidate must be able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, managing Occupational Health, RFA, Primary Health, and Wellness services, while exceeding customer expectations and requirements in the clinic.

Critical Outputs
  1. Manage the overall contract with the client and oversee audits.
  2. Develop and improve the Occupational Health program.
  3. Ensure the physical, psychological, and social wellbeing of workers in a safe environment.
  4. Monitor employees' health status through ongoing surveillance programs.
  5. Provide information to the client to help eliminate, control, and minimize health risks and hazards.
  6. Work effectively within a set budget.
  7. Complete administrative tasks promptly.
  8. Maintain professional and quality standards as prescribed by Life Occupational Health and the client.
  9. Lead and motivate subordinates.
  10. Coordinate clinic management activities.
Requirements

Essential qualifications and experience:

  • Experience in management, administration, employee relations, and communication.
  • Management experience in clinic operations is preferred.
  • Qualifications in General Nursing and Post Basic Occupational Health Nursing Science/Diploma.
  • At least 2 years of post-graduation experience in a mining environment registered with SANC.
  • Certificates in Audiometry, Spirometry, Vision, Multidrug testing, dispensing, and registration.
  • Audiometry registration with SASOHN.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with medical databases is advantageous.
  • Own transport and a valid Driver’s license (Code 8).
  • Experience with COID act reporting and administration.
  • Results-oriented, good communication skills, initiative, and ability to deliver quality outputs while reducing costs.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health in mining is an advantage.
