Unit Manager | Occupational Health Nurse

Function: Nursing Facility Inland South: Kempton Park

Position: Unit Manager | Occupational Health Nurse

Introduction:

A permanent position exists for an Occupational Health Nurse Unit Manager at Life Health Solutions in Kempton Park. The successful candidate will work 40 hours per week and report to the Business Manager. Responsibilities include planning, coordination, measurement, and follow-up of occupational health outputs in a mixed service delivery model, ensuring effective and efficient delivery that exceeds customer expectations.

Critical Outputs
  1. Arrange, induct, and conduct in-service training for new, current, and locum staff.
  2. Maintain good relationships with stakeholders.
  3. Arrange placement of locum staff during absences or leave requests.
  4. Compile staff rosters aligned with clinic schedules.
  5. Verify all timesheets for accuracy before submission.
  6. Ensure timely capturing of leave and submission of related forms.
  7. Track attendance, report issues, and assist in managing poor attendance.
  8. Provide regular feedback on staff matters to the Business Manager.
  9. Conduct bi-annual performance assessments with the Business Manager.
  10. Develop and manage medical surveillance programs according to policies and risk assessments.
  11. Ensure medical examinations are current, accurate, and compliant with standards and legal requirements.
  12. Coordinate Occupational Health Risk Assessments and provide feedback reports to clients.
  13. Participate in meetings such as Health and Safety and Client feedback sessions.
  14. Manage health monitoring programs, site visits, and maintain accurate registers.
  15. Compile professional reports and statistical data for clients.
  16. Assist with clinic audits, ensuring timely correction of findings.
  17. Establish health trends and recommend preventative measures.
  18. Maintain up-to-date and confidential employee files and data entry.
  19. Control clinic stock, ensure proper ordering, and conduct quarterly stock counts.
  20. Ensure clinic equipment calibration, maintenance, and upgrades.
  21. Ensure compliance with ISO standards and participate in audits.
  22. Administer services within budget and uphold a professional organization image.
Requirements
  • Nursing Diploma or Degree
  • Occupational Health Nursing qualification (B Tech/Diploma) with 2-3 years relevant experience in manufacturing
  • Registration with SANC, with additional Occupational Health qualification on current SANC receipt
  • Knowledge of Occupational and Primary Health Care Services
  • Certificate in dispensing
  • Certificates in Spirometry, Audiometry (registered with SASOHN), Vision screening, and BLS
  • Computer literacy
  • Experience in administration, employee relations, and good communication skills
  • Results-oriented, proactive, and quality-focused candidates are preferred
  • Customer focus, teamwork, and initiative are essential qualities
