Job description

Job Title and Location

A vacancy exists for a Unit Manager for the Maternity Unit at Life Rosepark Hospital. The successful candidate will report to Christina Fourie, Nursing Standards Manager.

Introduction

The candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating clinical practice and resources within the unit to achieve the hospital's objectives of quality, growth, and people development.

Critical Outputs
  1. Effective clinical leadership
  • Lead the implementation of nursing care plans and coordinate treatment delivery within the MDT to achieve clinical outcomes.
  • Serve as a clinical expert to achieve patient outcomes.
  • Ensure staff and student competence, foster a learning environment, and provide feedback.
  • Promote customer satisfaction, address complaints, and conduct quality audits.
  • Implement national quality initiatives and report on progress.
  • Identify risks and trends, implement corrective actions, and monitor ongoing issues.
  • Drive best operating practices and participate in hospital marketing initiatives.
  1. Leadership and People Management
  • Demonstrate visible leadership aligned with LHC values and nursing strategy.
  • Manage all people-related processes within the unit.
  1. Financial Management
  • Participate in planning and manage nursing costs within budget.
  • Manage stock and equipment, ensure staff are trained on equipment use, and maintain a safe environment.
  1. Stakeholder Relationships
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including doctors, patients, and service providers.
  • Communicate effectively to promote positive outcomes and advocate for the hospital.
Requirements
  • Degree or Diploma in Nursing
  • Advanced Midwifery (Advantageous)
  • ESMO experience
  • Current SANC registration
  • Relevant nursing experience
  • Leadership and management skills (advantageous)
  • Understanding of labour law, financial, and chain management principles
  • Knowledge of the private healthcare industry (advantageous)
  • Computer proficiency
