Job summary

CLIENT is seeking a Unit Manager Environmental Engineering at a plant in the Free State to lead Ventilation and Occupational Hygiene across the segment. You will drive environmental engineering governance, supervise staff and resources, and oversee audits, new technologies, and compliance with COPs and SOPs.

The role requires MEC, a minimum of an NQF 6 qualification with 5 years’ related experience (2 in management), and proficiency with ventilation/refrigeration systems and simulation tools.

Qualifications

• Certificate in Mine Environmental Control (MEC)
• 5+ years’ experience in related role, incl. 2 years in management or specialist area
• Experience in developing, implementing and evaluating management systems and databases
• Knowledge of ventilation and refrigeration computer simulation programs
• Training in legislation, management systems, safety, health and environmental integration, risk assessment

Responsibilities

• Ventilation & Occupational Hygiene management across the segment; audits; ensure proper governance and resources
• Design and integrate ventilation/refrigeration networks; optimise using simulation models
• Develop strategies to implement best practices; ensure compliance with COPs, SOPs and managerial instructions
• Provide technical interpretation and reporting to mine owner and statutory bodies; monitor data systems
