To lead and manage a team of underwriters, implementing the Company’s underwriting guidelines, protocols, policies, principles, and controls, and ensure consistent adherence thereof.

To oversee the life underwriting function and process, ensuring accurate risk assessment and compliance with regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assessing medical, financial, and occupational underwriting risks
• Creating business practice guidelines and reviewing underwriting philosophies and standards
• Providing onboarding training, mentoring, and coaching to junior and intermediate underwriters
• Supporting advisory and call center teams through training
• Conducting quality assurance reviews for policies and limit reviews for underwriters
• Assessing complex and commercial cases
• Creating, reviewing, testing, and maintaining medical underwriting rules and questions
• Managing relationships with re-insurance treaty partners
• Implementing re-insurer guidelines and requirements
• Reviewing and ratifying underwriting business processes for the executive team and contributing to product development
• Providing retrospective underwriting decisions during claims processing

Ideal candidate qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years senior underwriting experience
• Medical underwriting experience
• Re-insurance experience is advantageous
