Sanlam Life and Savings consists of the following business units Retail Mass, Corporate, Risk and Savings, Glacier and various business enabling functions. The Sanlam Life and Savings Office provides strategic direction, coordination and support to the four clusters, as well as performing governance oversight that includes assurance provided by second line of defense functions in SLS, to enable us to meet our business objectives.
Sanlam Risk and Savings (SRS), which is one of the businesses within SLS, offers risk and savings solutions to various segments within the market.
• Apply medical knowledge to accurately create and log Astute Life and Claims Placements on behalf of Underwriters
• Handle underwriting help-desk progress and tele-interview call queries (inbound).
• Conduct telephonic interviews with clients in English and Afrikaans to verify health statement information (outbound).
• Ensure accurate recording and capturing client responses.
• Provide clear explanations of basic medical terminology when requested by clients.
• Identify potential medical risks or behaviours.
• Manage mailbox correspondence effectively to support underwriting processes.
• Handle queries via telephone, email or WhatsApp.
• Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to be multi-skilled, contributing to other areas of the business as needed.
• Complete ad hoc tasks as required.
Please note: the environment necessitates overtime in peak periods. The number of overtime hours depends on the business need in terms of the volumes received.
Qualifications:
• Grade 12 with Biology / Life Science as a subject will be an advantage.
• Diploma or Certificate in Nursing / Biotechnology or similar qualification will be an advantage.
Experience:
• At least 2 years’ experience in an inbound/outbound call centre environment.
• 1-year experience within a medical/underwriting environment will be an advantage.
Knowledge:
• Knowledge of Life Assurance and/or Financial Services industry.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
