We are looking for an experienced Short Term Insurance: Commercial Underwriter.
Your : Formal Education :
Matric, NQF Level 5 in Short-Term Insurance, Regulatory Exam Level 1, a minimum of five years of relevant commercial underwriting experience, Commercial Lines Class of Business, DOFA confirmation from FSB, Cardinal system experience will be an advantage.
Will enable you to perform the following duties :
- Effectively maintain commercial underwriting standards and provide quality client service.
- Issue new policies, renewals, and endorsements on the CIMS3 System.
- Prepare new business quotes.
- Underwrite in accordance with standards, policies, and procedures.
- Support sales team in acquiring and retaining profitable business.
- Attend to administration and written communication.
- Ensure all documentation is processed accurately and correctly.
- Check and authorize documentation prior to dispatch if appropriate.
- Resolve queries as per company standards.
- Negotiate renewal terms and prepare renewal documentation.
- Ensure renewal reviews are completed timely.
- Calculate retentions.
- Request, monitor, survey, and meet survey requirements as per laid down procedures.
- Correct unprofitable policies.
- Ensure policies are not overexposed.
- Check policies before sending to clients.
- Make telephonic contact with clients regarding queries, amendments, or additional covers.
- Save all work electronically.
Service delivery to ensure customer satisfaction :
- Maintain service quality within a specific functional process, ensuring compliance to policies, procedures, and standards.
- Resolve escalated customer queries and complaints, providing feedback on matters resolved.
- Develop work routines aligned with operational plans to meet service delivery goals.
- Share knowledge and participate in creating new standards, control systems, and procedures.
- Align behavior with organizational culture and values.
- Share and transfer product, process, and system knowledge with colleagues.
- Collaborate with the Underwriting team to ensure service levels are met.
Continuous improvement to ensure effective service :
- Adhere to organizational policies, practices, and procedures.
- Identify and recommend process improvements.
