Job description

Hello… an exciting new opportunity has just become available in our Insure, Broker Distribution, Bloemfontein branch. We are looking to recruit a Underwriter.

Role Objectives :

To underwrite in line with our underwriting guide. Provide First Call Resolution.

Enhance Broker / Client Satisfaction and contribute to savings through effective risk management of policies.

Key Responsibilities :

Ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines and standard operating procedures :

1. Assess new business risk in accordance with business underwriting
2. New business acceptance and declinature of risk
3. Providing technical underwriting expertise on underwriting referrals
4. Re-Insurance referrals placements
5. To act within the agreed mandate in terms of discount, acceptance of risk
6. Endorsements, renewals, multi claimants, refunds and day to day queries
7. Take ownership of queries and provide feedback to clients, internal and external stakeholders timeously
8. Follow the company standard operating procedures on all risk management processes
9. Ensure that protocol is followed in terms of regulatory requirements and necessary disclosures to be made (TCF)
10. Escalate queries or deviations from SOP to relevant manager
11. Act within mandate from the relevant manager in terms of acceptance and rejection of risk
12. Ensure that correct policy documents are sent to the clients
13. Delivering reliable underwriting support and customer service to the various claims departments and improving the overall customer experience
14. Establish and nurture relationships with brokers, BDCs, and other stakeholders
15. Identify problems encountered by clients and propose medium and long-term resolutions
16. Propose new ways to improve technical functionality to facilitate service to meet SLA
17. Foster and encourage team spirit within the team.
