Job description

Underwrite new policies and renewals, do endorsements, quotes, other ancillary underwriting functions.

POSITION INFO : Your :
  • Matric
  • NQF 5 in Short-Term Insurance
  • Regulatory Exam Level 1
  • A minimum of five years relevant underwriting experience
  • DOFA confirmation from FSB
  • Cardinal 360 system experience will be an advantage
  • Financial Services industry experience
Will help you to succeed in the following duties :
  1. Maintaining underwriting standards and providing quality client service: Issuing new policies, renewals, and endorsements on the CIMS3 System; preparing new business quotes; underwriting in accordance with standards, policies, and procedures; supporting the sales team in acquiring and retaining profitable business; attending to administration and written communication; ensuring all documentation is processed accurately and correctly; checking and authorizing documentation prior to dispatch; resolving queries as per company standards; negotiating renewal terms and preparing renewal documentation; ensuring renewal reviews are completed timely; calculating retentions; requesting and monitoring survey requirements; correcting unprofitable policies; ensuring policies are not overexposed; checking policies before sending to clients; contacting clients via telephone for queries or amendments; saving all work electronically.
  2. Service delivery to ensure customer satisfaction: Maintaining service quality within specific processes; resolving escalated customer queries and complaints; providing feedback; developing work routines aligned with operational goals; sharing knowledge and participating in creating new standards and procedures to maintain service delivery.
  3. Maintain effective people practices: Aligning behaviour with organizational culture and values; sharing knowledge; collaborating with the underwriting team to ensure service levels.
  4. Continuous improvement for effective service: Ensuring adherence to policies and procedures; identifying and suggesting process improvements.
