Sibanye Stillwater is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Foreman to oversee the maintenance of mechanical equipment, ensuring compliance with codes and standards. The role focuses on safe production, cost management, and operational excellence, with leadership of a reporting team and collaboration with stakeholders.

The position requires underground mining experience, relevant certificates, and the ability to obtain a foreman certificate within 12–24 months. Strong SHE practices are essential.

Qualifications

• National N2 Certificate or higher with suitable mechanical background.
• Relevant valid Artisan Trade Certificate (Section 13 or Section 26D) with proof of formal learnership programme.
• Foreman Certificate of Competence or ability to obtain within 12–24 months.
• At least 3-5 years mining experience (underground).
• Medically fit to work in the specific business area.
• Clear security screening record.
• Valid driver’s license (if applicable).

• Manage performance and development of reporting staff.
• Ensure fair work allocation for team members.
• Inspire team members towards high performance.
• Sourcing, contracting and negotiating with service providers.
• Liaising with environmental management related requirements and alignment where applicable.
• Collaborating with external service providers regarding the design and implementation of tools to enhance processes.
• Setting and approving budgeting parameters for the Division in line with business requirements and financial objectives.
• Approving operational expenditure.
• Formulating monthly and annual budgets.
• Report on variances from the budget and the reasons for those variances.
• Leading and driving cost saving and cash conservation initiatives.
• Remaining competitive on the global cost curve for surface operations.
• Actively support and participate in organisational development plan.
• Align to international responsible mining principles.
• Maintain and comply with SHE standards within the work environment.
• Instil a culture of SHE leadership within the department.
• Participate in regional/local bodies and decision-making forums.
• Provide SHE leadership within the unit in line with Unit objectives.
• Monitor compliance to SHE requirements in the work environment.
• Carry accountability for achieving targets.
• Develops and installs pro-active approach to safety issues.
• Approve department’s documents.
• Comply with Quality Management System requirements.
• Manage documentation and records within QMS.
• Improve the effectiveness of QMS.
• Attend meetings and communicate with teams on a continuous basis.
• Control and distribute stock within area of responsibility.
• Input in scheduling planned maintenance of equipment.
• Decide on maintenance type to be performed.
• Oversee maintenance process and coaching to subordinates.
• Oversee that breakdowns are repaired.
• Conduct Task Analyses and take appropriate action to address risks.
• Plan, execute and supervise day-to-day processes and maintenance activities.
• Conduct risk assessments and take appropriate action.
• Investigate workplace incidents and accidents.

Formation
