Job Opportunity: Mechanical Foreman / Maintenance Engineer

Our client, based in the Free State, is seeking a proactive and experienced Mechanical Foreman / Maintenance Engineer to join their team at a mining site in Welkom. The successful candidate will oversee maintenance and repair of mining equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Equipment Maintenance: Supervise maintenance and repair of all mining equipment, including rock drills, thrust legs, and other machinery.
2. Installation Oversight: Manage all equipment installations on surface and underground.
3. Preventative Maintenance: Develop and implement maintenance schedules to keep equipment in optimal condition.
4. Inspections: Conduct regular inspections to identify and address potential issues.
5. Training: Ensure mining crews are trained to operate equipment safely and efficiently.
6. Performance Monitoring: Monitor equipment performance and provide feedback to team members.
7. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment performance.
8. Policy Compliance: Ensure all work complies with company policies and procedures.
9. Asset Management: Oversee management of assets, including spare parts.
10. Team Management: Oversee staff performance and safety standards.
11. On-site Oversight: Manage all on-site personnel and functions.
12. Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure site compliance with health and safety regulations and mitigate risks through preventive maintenance.
13. Project & OEE Management: Manage engineering projects and optimize Overall Equipment Effectiveness.
14. Technical Knowledge: Maintain strong understanding of maintenance methodologies and mining standards.

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 12.
• Trade qualification as Millwright, Fitter, or Electrician.
• At least 5 years of experience in a similar role within the mining industry, managing maintenance teams.
• Valid Medical Certificate or proven medical fitness to work underground.
• No criminal record.
