Job description

An opportunity has become available for a high calibre Ultraheavy motor vehicle driver to distribute goods to various clients.

Minimum requirements :

  • Grade 12 / Matric / Senior Certificate
  • Grade 10 Literacy level (Verbally and Numerically literate)
  • Code EC drivers license with valid PrDP (DGP)
  • Minimum 3 years experience driving an Ultra Heavy Vehicle
  • Must have own reliable transportation

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare vehicle for trips and operate Ultra heavy-duty vehicles.
  • Load, transport, and offload goods.
  • Handle required documentation and perform ancillary duties.
  • Follow instructions from Supervisor.
  • Work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Maintain a safe driving record and a clean criminal record.
  • Keep vehicles, uniforms, and PPE clean and organized.
  • Adhere to SOPs and safety procedures.
  • Complete required training and evaluations, including medical, USCS modules, induction, and practical driving assessments.
  • Ensure vehicles are not overloaded as per the National Road Traffic Act.
  • Responsible for offloading goods, either by operating equipment or overseeing the process.
  • Ensure loads are secured before departure.
  • Manage tarpaulin opening and closing where applicable.
  • Interact professionally with customers.
  • Possess defensive driving techniques and knowledge of vehicle components.
  • Report emergencies and vehicle defects promptly.
  • Conduct vehicle inspections and know how to operate a fire extinguisher.
  • Maximize vehicle cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Apply proper vehicle loading techniques.
