Job summary

Unitrans is seeking a high-caliber Ultra-heavy Motor Vehicle Driver to distribute goods to clients from Springs, Gauteng. The role requires a Code EC license with PrDP, 3 years of ultra-heavy vehicle experience, and readiness to work weekends and holidays.

You will be responsible for load security, vehicle inspections and safe offloading, adhering to SOPs and safety procedures. The position is temporary and fixed-term, based in Gauteng, with duties including vehicle preparation, loading,

Qualifications

• Grade 10 literacy level (verbally and numerically literate).
• Code EC driver's license with valid PrDP (DGP).
• 3 years experience driving an ultra heavy vehicle.
• Must be 25 years of age and above.
• Prepared to work weekends and public holidays.
• Defensive driving techniques.
• Function and location of vehicle components.
• Reporting procedure of emergencies and defects.
• Vehicle inspections and operating a fire extinguisher.
• Maximizing vehicle cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
• Vehicle loading techniques.
• Experience with dry bulk tankers.

Responsibilities

• Prepare vehicle for trip and operate Ultra heavy duty vehicles.
• Load, Transport and offloading of vehicles.
• Handle required documentation and perform ancillary duties.
• All other reasonable instructions from Supervisor.
• Prepared to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• Safe driving record and clean criminal record.
• Housekeeping of vehicles, uniform and PPE.
• Adhere to SOPs and Safety Procedures.
• Undergo medical evaluation and training modules.
• Verification of clean criminal record.
• Ensure vehicle not overloaded as per National Road Traffic Act.
• Responsible for goods to be offloaded by operating offloading equipment or overseeing the offloading process.
• Ensure the load is secured before departure.
• Opening and closing of tarpaulins where applicable.
• Deal with customers professionally.

• Ensure the load is secured before departure.
• Opening and closing of tarpaulins where applicable.
