Job summary

Durpro Workforce Solutions in Durban is seeking an experienced printing operator to join our production team. You will read work tickets, set up the lithography press, and ensure UV coverage and quality standards are met throughout the shift.

The role requires at least a year in printing, knowledge of machinery, and the ability to follow schedules and complete documentation in Printvis. Solid attention to detail and compliance with safety rules are essential for efficient production.

Qualifications

Key Performance Areas

Operations Management

• Maintain machine to specific guidelines set out by the supplier.
• Read & understand work ticket and what is required for the task at hand.
• Follow instructions on work tickets.
• Follow work schedule & plan next print job.
• Ensure completeness & make ready to standards.
• Ensure correct UV coverage in area on printed cartons that require UV is achieved.
• Ensure correct mechanical set up of the press from feeder through to the delivery.
• Ensure stencil areas are accurately cut according to the die line profile.
• Sheet to be patched with ink and bumped through the press.
• All varnish free hatched areas on the blanket need to be neatly cut away.
• Operator to pass all his jobs. Pass sheet to be filed at the machine.
• Ensure stacks have UV Completed labels on each stack.
• Blankets to be numbered and filed away neatly.
• Ensure production & efficiencies are achieved according to company standards.
• Ensure that all capturing information regarding a UV print is recorded on an official time sheet document or via Printvis system.
• Ensure quantity of UV sheets received from printing press is correct.
• Operator closes off WIT, by completing the back of the W/T indicating number of sheets.
• Daily time management via Printvis system.
• Compliance with rules & regulations.
• Throughput of production at optimum level — communicate job status to Litho manager.

Machine Maintenance

• Pre-shift inspection of equipment.
• Adhere to weekly, monthly scheduled maintenance plan report on maintenance problems via the correct system.
• Report machine breakdowns / down time.
• Housekeeping and press condition to be maintained and kept in a good working condition.

Quality Assurance

• Ensure quality measures are in place.
• Track quality and quantity.

Food Safety

• Ensure all problems with regards to the food safety management system is reported to supervisor and /or food safety team member(s).
• Ensure all tasks are performed in a manner that does not contribute to products becoming unsafe.
• Ensure all lawful instructions are carried out according to company's standard operating procedures as well as food company policies.
• Strict adherence to food safety policies.

Human Resources

• Follow work schedule & plan next print job.
• Compliance with rules & regulations.
• Follow instructions on work tickets, read & understand "10 point checklist".

Key Performance Indicators

• Minimal errors in print.
• All machine faults reported on time and addressed.
• Clean and maintain machines Housekeeping to be maintained.
• Ability to follow instructions.
