The Mogale Christian Foundation is looking for dedicated and enthusiastic Volunteer Tutors to join our team in the foundation. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about education, community development, and making a lasting impact in the lives of learners. As a Tutor, you will work with students who need academic support, helping them improve their performance and gain confidence in their abilities. Online tutoring will be the primary mode, supplemented by in-person tutoring when necessary.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
-Passionate about education, youth development, and community impact
-1–5 years of tutoring, teaching, or mentorship experience (formal or informal)
-Able to commit consistently to weekly tutoring sessions
-Proficient with online tools such as Teams, Zoom, Google Classroom, or similar platforms
-Ability to develop lesson plans and learning materials tailored to student needs
-Minimum of a completed Grade 12 certificate; further studies in education or related fields are an advantage
-Based in or able to travel to Pretoria for in-person sessions (when required)
-A clear background check may be required depending on student engagement
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Provide one-on-one or small group academic support to students in assigned subjects
-Design and deliver engaging and learner-appropriate lesson plans
-Identify learning gaps and adjust teaching methods accordingly
-Encourage and motivate students to take responsibility for their own learning
-Track and report student progress to the program coordinator
-Communicate effectively with students, parents (where applicable), and fellow volunteers
-Uphold the values and mission of the organization through professional and compassionate service
HARD SKILLS:
-Subject matter knowledge of chosen subject to teach (e.g., English, Mathematics, Sciences, Physics, Geography, Business studies, etc.)
-Curriculum and lesson planning
-Digital literacy and experience with e-learning tools
-Academic assessment and student progress tracking
SOFT SKILLS:
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
-Patience, empathy, and a learner-centered approach
-Time management and organizational skills
-Adaptability and creativity in teaching approaches
-Dependability and a strong sense of responsibility
