Responsibilities

• Program and operate CNC fibre tube/profile laser cutting machines.
• Prepare cutting programmes from technical drawings and customer specifications.
• Interpret engineering drawings, dimensions and cutting requirements.
• Nest and optimise cutting programmes to minimise material wastage.
• Set up machines according to material type, thickness, tube/profile dimensions and job requirements.
• Select appropriate cutting parameters and consumables.
• Load and position tube/profile material correctly.
• Conduct first-off inspections and dimensional quality checks.
• Monitor cutting quality and make necessary programme or machine adjustments.
• Identify and troubleshoot basic machine, cutting and programming issues.
• Ensure completed components meet required specifications and tolerances.
• Maintain accurate production records and job documentation.
• Perform routine machine checks and maintain a clean and safe working area.

TUBE LASER OPERATOR & PROGRAMMER

Location: Edenvale, Gauteng Salary: R16,000 – R22,000 CTC per month

POSITION SUMMARY

A leading supplier and service provider of industrial metalworking machinery is looking for an experienced Tube Laser Operator & Programmer to operate and program CNC fibre laser tube-cutting machinery.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing programmes, setting up and operating tube laser cutting machines, interpreting technical drawings, and ensuring accurate, high-quality production in line with customer specifications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Program and operate CNC fibre tube/profile laser cutting machines.

• Prepare cutting programmes from technical drawings and customer specifications.

• Interpret engineering drawings, dimensions and cutting requirements.

• Nest and optimise cutting programmes to minimise material wastage.

• Set up machines according to material type, thickness, tube/profile dimensions and job requirements.

REQUIREMENTS

• Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent.

• Previous experience operating and programming CNC laser cutting machinery.

• Experience specifically with tube or profile laser cutting will be highly advantageous.

• Experience with fibre laser cutting technology preferred.

• Ability to read and interpret technical/engineering drawings.

• Knowledge of CNC programming and machine setup.

• Understanding of different metals, material thicknesses and cutting parameters.

• Computer literate.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Good mathematical and measurement skills.

• Ability to work independently and meet production deadlines.

• Previous experience within sheet metal fabrication, steel manufacturing or engineering will be advantageous.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with CNC fibre laser tube/profile cutting, understands how to prepare and optimise cutting programmes, and can confidently work from technical drawings through to finished components.

Experience with industrial laser equipment and CNC-controlled machinery will be particularly valuable given the technical nature of the machinery environment.

Salary: R16,000 – R22,000 CTC per month
