ABOUT THE COMPANY PROVIDING THE LEARNERSHIP: The first idea of a digital innovation hub in Braamfontein, Johannesburg was thought of by Prof. Barry Dwolatsky, the director of Wits University's JCSE (Johannesburg Centre of Software Engineering). This grew into a zone that connects software, digital innovation, and hardware with succeeding developments.

The purpose of a Precinct is to nurture digital products and technology businesses and make ideas applicable to all businesses. The Tshimologong Precinct was established and has operated since 1st September, helping turn this vision into reality.

DETAILS ABOUT THE LEARNERSHIP PROGRAMME: Location: Johannesburg, Gauteng
Duration: 8 months
Start Date: 1 March
Supported by Gauteng's Department of e-Government and IT Ecology, Wits University offers a learnership in the Tshimologong Digital Innovation Precinct.

The aim is to address the increased need for software testers in South Africa, which has declined since the Covid-19 outbreak.

Software testing is vital to ensure software does not fail, preventing financial loss for customers.

The programme will teach candidates about Python and relevant software theories, including practicals, performance testing with industry-leading tools, and automated functional testing.

Key Purpose of the Programme: To test the functioning of software applications to ensure they meet necessary criteria, identify faults, and ensure high-quality software for customers. It also covers the evolution of testing.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY: Ensure you meet all the following criteria; failure to do so will disqualify your application:

  • Education: Must have completed a qualification related to IT, Mathematics, or Engineering
  • Must be a university graduate
  • Must have an inquiring and analytical mind
  • Must enjoy app exploration
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of software
