Job summary

A leading company in Cape Town is seeking a Trust Accountant to join their Trust, Company Accounting and Tax department. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and client-focused, with a strong background in trust and company accounting. Responsibilities include preparing financial statements and tax returns, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and managing client relationships. This contract role runs from July 1, 2025, to September 30, 2025.

Qualifications

  • 3 or more years’ experience in Trust accounting and Tax.
  • Knowledge of The Trust Property Control Act and Companies Act.
  • Experience with offshore entity accounting.

  • Manage PAYE, VAT, and Income Tax registrations.

Job description

Trust Accountant required in Newlands, Cape Town.

Trust Accountant required to join the Trust, Company Accounting and Tax department. This role is ideal for someone detail-oriented, client-focused, and experienced in trust and company accounting.

Salary: R32 000 – R38 000 CTC per month.

Contract – 1 July 2025 to 30 September 2025.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Completed finance related degree.
  • 3 or more years’ experience in Trust accounting and Tax (including investment companies), Offshore entity accounting, knowledge of investment accounting and SARS e-filing experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software such as Draftworx & SARS E-filing/Taxware/AccFin.
  • Knowledge of The Trust Property Control Act as well as Companies Act.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Compile and process information for annual financial statements and tax returns for trusts and companies, ensuring compliance with IFRS for SMEs.
  • Complete and submit annual, provisional, and statutory tax returns, including EMP201, EMP501, VAT201, and VAT501.
  • Manage PAYE, VAT, and Income Tax registrations, and assist administrators with related tasks.
  • Handle SARS reviews, audits, and client queries promptly and effectively.
  • Support and collaborate with trust officers, consultants, and colleagues across departments to maintain strong client relationships.
  • Review and present financial statements and tax returns prepared by colleagues.
  • Ensure timely compliance with client tax and reporting deadlines, adhering to internal accounting processes.
  • Prepare client quotations, source documents, and maintain billing targets.
  • Manage trust accounting debtors to prevent overdue accounts, working closely with the finance team.
  • Contribute to team targets, budgets, and overall process quality while reporting to senior management.
