Santam Ltd is looking for a passionate, proactive, and innovative self - starter for a position as Treasury Analyst available in the Group Treasury department reporting to the Treasury Operations Manager. This role can either be based at our office in Cape Town or Johannesburg.

We are seeking an experienced Treasury professional, with a proven track record to join our growing team.This role is responsible for working with the various businesses within the Santam Group to effectively execute foreign currency dealing, yield optimization methodology, efficiencies etc.

The Treasury Analyst is responsible for supporting the Treasury Operations Manager in building and embedding the Group Treasury Strategy with key focus on (but not limited to) liquidity management, foreign currency management, cash flow forecasting, financial performance and compliance reporting.

What will make you successful in this role?
  • To support the design and implementation of the financial analysis/reporting framework within the Treasury Management System
  • Perform daily Treasury Front office activities e.g. execute FX deals (i.e. Vanilla; swaps) and ST investments with various banking institutions
  • Ad-hoc project management of Treasury automation & innovation initiatives
  • Monthly dashboard reporting and perform Treasury analytics using the TMS system for decision making and reporting
  • Daily cash management of the Group’s cash; cash pooling agreements; monitor exposure risks
  • Manage investments of Group ‘s surplus short-term cash
  • Preparation of the Group’s daily Treasury Report, including calculating projected close of day positions for centrally controlled cash and foreign currency accounts
  • Liaise with various stakeholders within the Group for liquidity requirements and month end reporting
Qualification and Experience
  • Professional Treasury certification (advantageous)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Treasury operations function or Global Markets Banking environment (non-negotiable)
  • Banking internship (advantageous)
  • Working experience within Treasury Front operations/Dealing desk with specific focus on liquidity and Foreign Currency management (i.e. spots; forwards; hedging; risk management; efficiencies)
  • Sound understanding and working knowledge of financial instruments; vanilla products; settlements processes (non-negotiable)
