Job summary

Together Staffing group is supporting a leading engineering client in Johannesburg to appoint a Transportation Engineer with extensive rail and civil experience. You will drive civil inputs from feasibility through to project delivery, lead rail project scoping and development, and coordinate multidisciplinary design and construction activities on major capital programmes.

The role demands a strong grasp of drainage, formation, geometric design and engineering codes, plus capability to travel

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering.
• PrEng registration required.
• 10+ years in Rail/ Rail logistics experience.
• Strong understanding of drainage, formation and civil works.
• Experience with geometric and formation design.
• Knowledge of applicable engineering codes and standards.
• Experience across Stage 1–6 engineering.
• Willingness to travel and work on site for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Drive civil engineering inputs across feasibility studies, business cases and project development.
• Lead planning and development of rail projects from scoping to implementation.
• Develop project scopes, structures and procurement approaches.
• Conduct quantified risk analysis and provide technical recommendations for investments.
• Lead integrated transport and logistics planning initiatives.
• Manage and coordinate engineering activities within major capital projects and programmes.
• Undertake assessments, modelling and technical analysis related to rail infrastructure.
• Perform and oversee geometric and formation design per standards and codes.
• Provide technical support during construction and monitor progress on site.
• Prepare engineering documentation for client engagement, review and acceptance.

An engineering opportunity is available for a Professional Engineer with extensive rail and civil engineering experience. Our client requires a strategic and technically capable Transportation Engineer who can contribute to major rail, transport and logistics projects while providing strong discipline leadership.

Minimum Requirements

• BEng/BSc Engineering degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PrEng) registration.
• At least 10 years’ relevant experience within Rail Logistics and/or Rail.
• Strong understanding of drainage, formation and associated civil engineering works.
• Experience with geometric and formation design.
• Knowledge of applicable engineering codes and standards.
• Experience across Stage 1–6 engineering.
• Ability and willingness to travel and work on site for extended periods as project requirements dictate.
