A leading company in the logistics sector is seeking a Transport Supervisor to oversee vehicle operations and ensure compliance with safety standards. The successful candidate will manage driver presentations, conduct inspections, and implement training plans, contributing to an efficient and safe transportation system. Applicants must possess a Grade 12 certificate and a relevant diploma or degree, along with several years of supervisory experience in transport management.
The Key Functional responsibilities of the Transport Supervisor include but are not limited to :
Check the presentation of the driver on arrival to the DC.
Ensure that the driver thoroughly completes the pre-trip truck inspection.
Record that the fridges are running at the correct temperatures on the trip log.
Conduct an alcohol test on the driver and enter details on the vehicle check sheet.
Get the vehicle check sheet back from the driver.
Check for any defaults and sign the vehicle check sheet to indicate that the vehicle is safe to dispatch.
Issue driver with tag, probe and driver bag which includes a fuel card, cell phone, calibrated thermometer, latest shelf-life matrix, mp caps, offloading procedures, GDPS, accident reports and rain covers.
Issue driver with the correct documentation making sure that the driver has the correct invoices, load diagram and trip log.
Make sure that the driver has working and clean delivery equipment.
Ensure that the driver and VA are dressed in the correct Digistics uniform.
Check that the pallet label corresponds to trolley diagram.
Inspect truck before Driver leaves and report any fleet repairs required.
Ensure Fleet checks and enquiring on time services and repairs to be done timeously.
Brief drivers on the following :
Product security.
Route information and changes.
Speeding. Safety. Performance. Promo or limited supply items.
Implement driver training plans by scheduling and implementing plans to improve driver performance, driver adherence to company quality standards, safety on the road, and continued medical suitability for employment.
Ensure new Driver Take-Ons are done per Fleet policy, and all relevant assessments are done timeously for sign off and tagging.
To be an active role player and carry knowledge on food safety culture.
To be conscious of general Health and safety protocol as per the company policy and procedure.
To be conscious of the Facility general Health and safety representatives in case of an emergency.
Issue uniforms and protective clothing.
Ensure that automatic repairs are affected and authorized according to procedures.
Ensure that non routing repairs are affected and authorized according to procedures.
Ensure accurate completion of breakdown, accident, and incident reports.
Achieve 100% on time safe dispatch from the DC and compliance with dispatch procedure.
Implement corrective actions if standards are not achieved.
Ensure 100% compliance with company standards.
Verification of cleaning procedures resulting in clean vehicles.
Ensure that de-briefer has completed all debrief and vehicle check sheets. Ensure 100% control of equipment returns.
Communicate with CSR regarding late deliveries.
Ensure accurate recording of transport working hours and non-working hours.
Ensure accurate recording and reconciliation of fuel, oil and toll expenses.
The above list is not exhaustive, and you shall be obliged to perform subsidiary tasks in addition to the primary tasks for which you are employed. Minimum Requirements :
3-5 years’ experience in a supervisory role managing shift, people, Health and Safety, corrective action and the management of transport admin and multi temperature stock items.
Grade 12 is compulsory with Relevant Tertiary Diploma or Degree in Transport Management or similar.
Exceptional understanding of Fleet and Road safety requirements.
Good Warehousing & Distribution, Transport, FMCG, QRS Management.
Intermediate to advanced Computer literacy MS Excel, Outlook PowerPoint,
Advanced (WMS) Skills EPOD system experience
