Company Overview

Our client is a leading food manufacturer, supplying bakeries, supermarkets, and online food delivery companies. They are looking for a Transport Coordinator (Supervisor) to lead the busy HGV driver/fleet operations during the night shift.

Role & Responsibilities

• Report to the Transport Manager on night shifts, working closely to organise and manage safety, performance, and compliance
• Supervise 15 HGV drivers across 35 routes on nights
• Step into the Transport Manager role during absences or holidays
• Ensure all deliveries and collections meet legal and company requirements
• Escalate, communicate, and log vehicle service issues for compliance
• Manage route planning, TACO’s, debriefings, and workload allocation
• Occasionally perform hands-on tasks such as yard shunting or deliveries
• Handle office-based administrative tasks, including planning schedules and data input

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• HGV Class 1 Driving Licence is mandatory
• Willingness to be hands-on and step into a managerial role when needed
• Strong supervisory skills: confident, open, flexible, honest
• Comfortable working permanent night shifts
• Ability to make decisions in a fast-paced, changing environment
• Experience in transport or logistics operations
• Understanding of transport legal compliance
• Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and transport scheduling software
